Instructions
Note: Hat is worked side to side. Instructions are for size Small, with size Large in parentheses.
Ch 29 (31) leaving a 24″ (61 cm) long tail for seaming.
1st row (RS): 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end. Turn. (28 (30) sc)
2nd row: Ch 1. Working in back loops only, 1 sc in each sc across. Turn.
Repeat 2nd row until the work measures 18″ (20″) [45.5 (51) cm], ending on a WS row. Fasten off.
Finishing
Use the starting tail to weave through the top edge of the hat. Pull tightly to gather the crown and secure it. Sew the back seam closed. Turn up the brim to form the cuff.
Optional Pompom
Wrap contrast yarn around 4 fingers 150 times. Tie securely in the center and leave a long end to sew to the hat. Cut loops at both ends and trim into a round shape. Sew the pompom to the top of the hat securely.
