Easy Crochet Baby Booties – Step-by-Step Pattern for Beginners

Materials Needed

  • Worsted weight cotton or satin yarn (55 to 100 yards depending on size)

Gauge

14 sc and 15 rows = 4 inches (10 cm)

Sizing

This pattern fits infants 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months. Instructions are written for the smallest size, with the larger sizes shown in parentheses.

Instructions

Cuff

Ch 16.

Instep

With RS facing, skip first 7 (8, 9) sts, join yarn with sl st in next st.
Row 1: Ch 1, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc in each of next 8 sts. Turn. (9 sc)
Rows 2-4: Ch 1, 1 sc in each st across. Turn.
Row 5: Ch 1, sc2tog, 1 sc in next 5 sts, sc2tog. (7 sts) Fasten off.
Sew the back seam of the cuff together.

Foot Rounds

Rnd 1: With RS facing, join yarn with sl st at center back. Ch 2 (counts as hdc), work 1 hdc in next 6 (7, 8) sts, 7 hdc down side of instep, 2 hdc in corner, 5 hdc across end, 2 hdc in corner, 7 hdc up other side, 1 hdc in next 7 (8, 9) sts. Join. (37, 39, 41 hdc)

Rnd 2: Ch 2, *Yoh and draw up loop around post from back (dcbp), complete dc; repeat around. Join.

Rnd 3: Repeat Rnd 2.

Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc2tog, 1 sc in next 14 (15, 16), sc2tog, 1 sc, sc2tog, 1 sc in next 14 (15, 16), sc2tog. Join. (33, 35, 37 sc)

Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc2tog, 1 sc in next 12 (13, 14), sc2tog, 1 sc, sc2tog, 1 sc in next 12 (13, 14), sc2tog. Join. (29, 31, 33 sts)

Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc2tog, 1 sc in next 10 (11, 12), sc2tog, 1 sc, sc2tog, 1 sc in next 10 (11, 12), sc2tog. Join. (25, 27, 29 sts)

Rnd 7: Ch 1, sc2tog, 1 sc in next 8 (9, 10), sc2tog, 1 sc, sc2tog, 1 sc in next 8 (9, 10), sc2tog. Join. (21, 23, 25 sts)

Fasten off and sew the sole seam securely. Weave in all ends.
